The Current Owners

Justin and Katie Utt moved to Clearwater in December of 2017 after Justin had taken a job with Webb Shinkle Mortuary at the start of that year. Justin graduated from KCKCC in 2004 with a degree in Mortuary Science.

Justin worked as a Funeral Director and Embalmer for Larrison Mortuary in Pratt till 2010 before moving to Wichita to work in funeral service. Justin and Katie have two boys Logan and Benton and enjoy spending time with family, sporting events, and outdoor activities with the kids.

Our History

In 1912, Willis and Alice Aldridge purchased Gerlack Furniture and Undertaking from Jake Gerlack. The Aldridges owned and operated the mortuary along with their General Mercantile until 1946. That year they sold the mortuary to their daughter and son-in-law, Virginia (Aldridge) and Gip Webb.

In 1968, the Webbs enlarged the mortuary and added a chapel. The Webb's oldest son Richard, continuing in the family business, bought the mortuary from his parents in 1986. In 1999, Richard hired Terry Shinkle as his associate who formed a close bond with the community and took the opportunity in January 2002 to purchase the mortuary from Richard.



In 2018, the Shinkles opened Shinkle Mortuary in Haysville, a branch of Webb-Shinkle in Clearwater.

The Previous Owners

Terry and Kathy Shinkle moved to Derby in 1986 when Terry graduated from KCKCC with a degree in Mortuary Science. Terry worked as a funeral director and embalmer for mortuaries in Derby and Wichita before going to Clearwater. In 2005, they moved to Haysville where they currently reside. They raised 4 children and enjoy spending time with them and their grandchildren.
