Joyce Eileen Irvine was born September 30, 1937 in Port Arthur, TX and went to be with her Lord January 19, 2021 in Wichita, KS, at age 83.
Her early years were spent riding horses, traveling with her family, and spending time at the family farm in Nacogdoches, TX. After the death of both her parents when she was 13, she was raised by Docia Hudnall, who had been with her since birth. Joyce attended Baylor University to study her favorite subject, anatomy, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. She then attended a school in Dallas, TX, where she was certified as a medical technologist. After marriage, she moved to California and worked in a hospital on the Air Force Base where her daughter, Sheila, was born. The family then moved to Wichita, where her son, Bryan, was born. Joyce then worked as a medical technologist for a number of years.
Joyce had many interests: flying airplanes, riding horses, training and showing dogs, playing the piano and singing in church. She was very supportive, attending many concerts and extracurricular activities of her children. She was also very generous, ensuring that her grandchildren were aided in their educational goals.
Joyce spent her final years in Comfort Care Homes in Wichita. Her family would like to thank the staff for their kindness and attentiveness to her needs. She will be missed, and her family will always remember the impact she had on their lives.
