Joanne (Braun) Flippin, age, 89, passed away on January 16, 2021 surrounded by her family. Joanne was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 8, 1931, the youngest of five girls born to Otto and Clara Braun. As a girl she would read, play with paper dolls, and roller skate to the movie theater for cartoons and features. She graduated from North Division High School in 1948. On April 19, 1952, she married Navy sailor and future engineer James (Jim) Flippin, with whom she raised five children. She was profoundly devoted to her family and to God. Full of spirit and spunk, she loved to travel, scrapbook, sew, work crossword puzzles, go dancing, and read mystery books. She evolved her career from a part-time associate at Sears to a full-time data input clerk for the Sedgwick County Area Educational Services Interlocal Cooperative, which she retired from in 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, her daughter Barbara, and her grandchild Spenser. She is survived by her husband Jim and her children; Mark (and his wife, JoAnn), David, John, and Jennifer (and her husband, Scott). Her grandchildren include; Dawn, Samantha, Sabrina (and her husband Jack), Brian (and his wife, Jennifer), Forrest (and her husband, Adam), Zoe, and Max. She also has seven great grandchildren; Gavin, Vincent, Logan, Bronwyn, Emerson, Xavier, and Violet.
