Virginia was born on Friday, October 9, 1931 in Ellsworth, Kansas. She was the second of two daughters born to William Alfred Maher and Ruth Helen (Lewick) Maher.

Preceded by her parents, William and Ruth (Lewick) Maher; sister, Aileen Lauterbach. Survivors: daughters, Debbie Awadi of Wichita, and Vicki Roberts of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Ashley (Daniel) Weldon; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Isabelle.
