Virgel was born on Wednesday, March 13, 1940 in Perry, Oklahoma, to his parents William Henry Mason and Ressie Faye (Harris) Mason. He was united in marriage to Glenda Ruth Barker on June 30, 1962 in Haysville, Kansas. He was a member of Haysville First Assembly of God (now called River of Life Church) Preceded by parents, William and Ressie (Harris) Mason; brother, William S. Mason. Survivors: wife of 56 years, Glenda; children, Sharron (Jeffrey) Serpan of Chanute, Steven (Michael Mann) Mason of Richmond, TX, Jolena (Mark) White of Wichita, Stanley (Felicita) Mason of Dyess AFB, Abilene, TX; brother, Archie (Carol) Mason of Haysville; sister, Ruey June (Carl) Newman of Bonnerdale, AR; grandchildren, Shelbie (Zac) Chase, Jordan Serpan, George Serpan, Lynn (Christopher) Spicer, Allison White, Ashlee Mason, Analee Mason, Zoey Mason; great-grandchild, Harper Chase.
