Shirley was born on Saturday, April 3, 1937 in Neodesha, Kansas. She was the second of three children, the only daughter, born to Jess and Alice (Leonard) Waggoner. She was united in marriage to Eugene "Gene" Bongiorni on April 15, 1954 in Bartlesville, OK. Gene preceded her in death on November 13, 2006.

Preceded by her husband, Gene; parents, Jess and Alice (Leonard) Waggoner; brothers, JD Waggoner and Bobby Waggoner. Survivors: son, Danny (Evonne) Bongiorni; daughters, Denise (Butch) Gaffney, DeeLayna (Jeff) Hans, all of Peck; brother, Merle (Betty) Waggoner of Wichita; grandchildren, Colette (Kenny) Watson, Dominic (Peggy) Bongiorni, Jayme (RJ) Emery, Jordan (Christian) Shrader; 6 great-grandchildren.
