Millie J. (Hamm) Whitlow, age 73, passed away Thursday September 14, 2017. Services were held at 10am, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Clearwater Church of Christ.
Mildred Joyce “Millie” (Hamm) Whitlow was born on Monday, May 22, 1944 in Pratt, Kansas. She was seventh of nine children born to Donald Clifford Hamm and Mabel Edith (Neidhardt) Hamm, and the first of her siblings to be born in a hospital. Millie graduated from Isabel High School in 1962, in a class of nine students. She attended York College in York, Nebraska, for two years. She married Wayland D. Whitlow on June 3, 1966 in Isabel, Kansas, and they moved to Laverne, Oklahoma, where they made their first home. In June of 1974 they moved to Clearwater, Kansas. Millie was a homemaker and stay at home mom until 1983 when she worked at the school kitchen for a year. In September of 1984, she began working for Webb Mortuary and continued there until her retirement in July 2007. She was a member of Clearwater Church of Christ. She led a busy and active life as the wife of a minister. She enjoyed being the wife of a minister and teaching classes, being active in the church, and doing all that she could to help Wayland in his duties as minister. Millie also enjoyed reading and sewing. She collected Noah’s Ark and enjoyed her flower gardens. Her children grandchildren were her heart’s delight and she considered her grandchildren to be special gifts from God. Preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Wayland; son, Jerry, son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kim Whitlow; parents, Donald and Mabel (Neidhardt) Hamm; brothers, Richard, Clifford; sister, Caroline. Survivors: children, Crystal (Sean) McNiel of Lubbock, TX, Brian (Kristin) Whitlow of Wichita, Neal (Jayme) Whitlow of Augusta; siblings, Rosalee Armstrong of Medicine Lodge, Robert (Loretta) Hamm of Edmond, OK, Howard (Ruth Ann) Hamm of Pauls Valley, OK, Janet (Jimmie) Keas of OK City, OK, John (Tacy) Hamm of Pratt; grandchildren, Libby and Jonathan McNiel, Addy, Ellison, Grayson, Jackson, and Sam Whitlow.
