Laura A. (Haskins) Walker, age 99, retired USD 264 teacher, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Visitation, 10am-7pm, Mon, w/family present 5:30-7pm, Webb-Shinkle Mortuary. Services, Tues, 10:30am at the Clearwater Church of Christ. Laura was born on Saturday, August 19, 1922 in Nash, Oklahoma. She was the third of six children born to Perl and Verda (Roderick) Haskins. Laura was united in marriage to Elden Lawrence Walker on August 20, 1946 in Hardtner, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2008. Laura taught at USD 264 schools for 40 years, teaching Elementary Education and Social Science. She was also a librarian. Laura loved books! Preceded in death by: husband, Elden; parents, Perl and Verda (Roderick) Haskins; siblings, Homer and Lloyd Haskins, Vera Readnour, Stella McDowell, Doris Chastain; granddaughters, Christie Koss and Shelly J. Valcoure. Survivors; children, James (Sandra) Walker of West Plains, MO, Ellen (Lonnie) Schwindaman of Wichita, Sheila (Nancy Veach) Walker of Aubry, TX, and Kevin Walker of Waxahachie, TX; 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
