Haysville

Larry F. Tyson, passed away December 30, 2023 after battling cancer.

Visitation with family present, 10am, Saturday, January 6, with Funeral Services following at 11am, at Shinkle Mortuary, Haysville.

Larry was born on December 15, 1942 in Wichita, KS to Noel and Floy (Ashmore) Tyson. He was a lifelong resident of Haysville. He attended Clearwater High School graduating with the Class of 1960. During high school he played football and enjoyed spending time with “the boys” Dean Pegg, Jimmy Baker, Jerry Farney, Steve Brown and Paul Webb. They made great memories and remained life long friends.

After high school Larry farmed and was drafted into the U.S. Navy. He served as an Aviation Boatswain Mate aboard the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War. Following his military service Larry returned home, continued farming and worked for Gressel Oil, Hancock Excavation and Austin Excavation.

His passion and favorite pastime was being a member of the Haysville VFW. He served continuously for twenty-one years as Post Commander of Haysville Post 6957. His community involvement and friendship will be missed by all who knew him.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, CR Tyson and sister, Judy Pegg. He is survived by his sister, Jean Smith; brother-in-law, Dean Pegg; niece, Jennifer (John) Stefanchik; nephew, Jeremy Smith; friend, Sondra Morgan.
