Our dad, John (Johnnie) Kurimsky passed away June 9, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 100 years, 8 months and 17 days. He was born in a rural home just west of Clearwater, Kansas where he continued to live until March, 2024. During WWll at the age of 18, he was drafted and joined the United States Navy serving in the Pacific stationed on Guam Island from 1943 to 1946. He met Mary Catheryn (Katie) Schoeppel during his early childhood years attending Clearwater schools and they were married shortly after his return from service in May, 1946.
Dad worked briefly for Standard Oil, then went to Boeing in 1949, where he enjoyed a rewarding 38 year career retiring in 1987. Dad served on the Clearwater Fire Department, was an elder at the Clearwater Christian Church, and a member of the VFWPost #93.
Dad’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and with many close friends in and around Clearwater.
Dad was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Katie; by his parents, Anna and John Kurimsky; 5 sisters, and 2 brothers.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Jim) Whitney, Mike (Candy) Kurimsky, and Lori (Mike) VanBuskirk; grandchildren, Lance (Ruth) Whitney, Jeremy (Tanya) Whitney, Chele (Daniel) Myears, Amy (Steve) Nelson, Chad Snow, April (Tim) Argo, and Kelly (Ashli) Snow; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation with family will be held June 12, at 1PM and Funeral Services will follow at 2PM taking place at Webb Shinkle Mortuary 200 S Tracy, Clearwater, Kansas.
