James Henry Benson

Clearwater - James H. “Jim”  Benson, age 90, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020.

James was born on Thursday, April 24, 1930 in Elmore City, OK. He was the oldest of 11 children born to Vernon Henry Benson and Myrtle Mae (Henderson) Benson. James served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at Cessna as an Assembly Supervisor, retiring after 42+ years. He also was custodian for Clearwater Middle and High Schools in the early 2000’s. He was owner of Collector’s Junk-tion and helped out at the Whistlestop Cafe. James was united in marriage to Geraldine Terrill on June 18, 1955 in Wichita, KS. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2013. Preceded by parents, Vernon and Myrtle (Henderson) Benson; wife, Geraldine “Gerry” (Terrill) Benson; brothers, Derrell, Dean, Charles, Roger, and Donald Benson. Survivors: daughter, Murielyn (Ron) Sangals of Viola; sons, Veldon (Robin) Benson of Clearwater, Gary (Leanne) Benson of Goddard; brother, Delbert Benson of Jenks, OK; sisters, Gayle (Geoff) Farnsworth, Mary Lou (Duane) Glasco of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Kristin (Rob) Muir, Kelli (Scott) Goforth, Ryan (Mandi) Sangals, Jacob Benson, Dustin Benson, Zach (Ashton) Benson, and Shelby (Evan) Moore; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Paige, and Zeb Goforth, Jackson and Annie Sangals, Georgia and Frankie Muir, Rachel, Jeb, Elwood, Ryatt, Lexi and Jaylie Benson.
