Edna May “Sunni” (Hagedorn) Sterneker, age 63, Westar Energy Quality Assurance Analyst, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017. Visitation, 9am-4pm, Tuesday, September 26th, at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary Chapel. Rosary/Vigil, 7pm, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 and a Funeral Mass, 10:30am, Wednesday, September 27, 2017, BOTH at St. John’s Catholic Church, Clonmel. Interment, 2pm, Wednesday, September 27, 2017, Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cunningham, KS. Sunni was born on Sunday, January 24, 1954, in Tokyo, Japan. At the age of one, her family boarded a boat to U.S. in 1955. After a few more moves, they settled in Walla Walla, Washington where she graduated from Walla Walla High School. Eventually moving to Wichita, Kansas, she met the love of her life. She was united in marriage on December 31, 1992, to Ricky Sterneker, in Wellington, Kansas. Sunni worked several different jobs, including car dealerships, attorney's offices, Boeing, SCKESC and Westar. She was board member of the Wichita Children's Home. She had served on the Clearwater Fall Festival Committee for several years. She enjoyed playing cribbage, golfing, fishing, gardening, riding horses. Supporting her grandchildren was by far biggest joy. Preceded by her father, Gordon Hagedorn, Sr. Survivors: husband, Ricky; children, Jessica Parker of Clearwater, Michael Garrett Land of Wichita; mother, Haruko Gutterud of Walla Walla, WA; sister, Patty House of Portland, OR, brother, Gordon Hagedorn, Jr of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren, Merissa Messman, Riley Parker, and Gavin Land; numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family.
