Donna J. (Vancuren) Bates, age 84, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Visitation, Tuesday, January 13, from 5:30-7 at Webb Shinkle Mortuary 200 S. Tracy, Clearwater, KS 67026. Funeral service, 10am, Wednesday, January 14 , at Viola Presbyterian Church, 304 S. Grice St, Viola, KS 67149.

Preceded in death by husband, Jerry Bates; parents, Robert and Louise (Ralston) Vancuren; sisters, Linda Ingram and Ruth Etheridge.

Survived by children, Sherry (Tom) Wells of Broomfield, CO, Teresa (Ronnie) Tatum of Calhoun, MO, and Laurie Horgan of Onaga, KS; siblings, Mary Braden of Rosehill, KS, and Judy (Gary) Jones of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Ryan, Melissa, Erin, Ben, Matt, Jerry, and Donnie; great-grandchildren, Raylan, Joe, Jillian, Barrett, Ender and Reed.
