Charlotte Kay (Cummings) Janzen
Age 81, Freelance Floral Designer and Artist, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Preceded in death by husband, Howard Janzen; parents, Charles and Anita (Meyer) Cummings; and grandson, Kyle Janzen.
Survived by children, Kelly (Christi Young) Janzen of Clearwater, KS and Kimberly (James Grosslight) Janzen of Raleigh, NC; grandchild, Nicholas Janzen of Wichita, KS; Great-grandchild Lyrikk Janzen of Wellington, KS; brother Charles (Sharon) Cummings of Wichita, KS.
Charlotte was the epitome of grace and had a presence and smile that could light up a room. She loved extravagant clothing; Taos, NM; Ray Charles; Easter Hallelujahs; afternoon tea; and achieving things people said that she couldn’t.
As an artist, she worked in nearly every medium imaginable, from floral design to watercolor, weaving, paper making, collage, drawing, art quilting, and making beautifully embellished jackets. In later years, she turned to writing poems and collected over 750 of them over the last 15 years. She was infinitely curious and loved learning about other people and their stories.
Charlotte believed her purpose on earth was to spread beauty in the world, and that she did. Her creative spirit lives on in her son, Kelly. Her love of the written word and passion for reading continues in her daughter, Kim. Her positive impact and remarkable spirit lives forever in all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life/Art Show will be held in October. To receive event notification, please email kimjanzen2013@gmail.com.
