Carol Jane (Beck) Meis, retired secretary and library aide for USD 261-Haysville, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
Rosary, 7pm, Wednesday, May 8 and Funeral Mass, 10am, Thursday, May 9, both at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Haysville.
Carol's parents were John and Agnes (Hoss) Beck of Ness City, KS. She was born on April 12, 1941, grew up on their farm and went to a one-room county school, Manteno Elementary School. Carol graduated from Ness City High School with the class of 1959. She attended Fort Hays State University for one year.
Carol and James Dean Meis were married on August 22, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ness City. They were privileged to raise one son Alan James Meis. They moved to Wichita, KS in August 1971 after Jim graduated from Fort Hays State University to take a job as an insurance auditor. Carol enjoyed her works as a secretary and library aide working with the young students at the Haysville Middle School for 24 years.
Carol and Jim were soulmates and supported each other, for 59 years of marriage, until his passing in January 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two infant sons, Gerard and Arlen.
She is survived by her son, Al (Sheila) Meis of Wichita; grandson, Alex Meis; siblings, Marjorie Langer, Paul (Toni) Beck all of Ness City and Arlene Stecklein of Dodge City.
